How to apply for Long Term Volunteering

The application forms below are for use by applicants resident in the US. Latin American volunteers may apply through Vive Mexico.
If you are living in another country (this includes US citizens), please check the SCI address list for an SCI branch or partner in your country of residence. If none exists, you may contact the SCI International Office closest to you.
  1. Read the list of available SCI posts. (International Listing)
  2. Select a post you wish to apply for and choose a second and third choice, in case your favorite place is unavailable. The list is updated every two months so changes do occur between updates.
  3. Use either one of these two applications:
    (TXT application form for typed reply to email)
    (PDF to print out, fill in by hand, and mail to us)
  4. Fill in your information and mail it with a check or money order payable to "SCI USA" and mail to our LTV office.
  5. If you use your own handwriting, please write clearly with black ink because it may need to be faxed twice to get it to the place you choose.
  6. You must send the applicable fee. Your application will not be processed until we receive the applicable fee (see FAQ).
  7. We will forward copies of your application to the SCI branch that coordinates your selected projects.
  8. SCI-IVS USA will let you know as soon as we receive a confirmation that you have been accepted.
  9. At that time you may take up direct contact with your chosen post or continue to have the office handle the communication.
  10. You will be informed what special conditions apply (if any), where to go, how to get there, when to arrive, what to take, what to expect, and how long you can stay.
  11. Please note that you are responsible for determining and getting the visas for the countries you are travelling to or through. The LTV office will provide assistance with this but we cannot maintain up to date information on all the visa regualations for all the countries SCI is active in.
